At the age of 23 I owned my own business distributing mobile phones – I was the first woman doing this in Accra. They used to call me the Iron Lady and everybody wanted to buy from me. I came to the Isle of Man because my husband was working at Noble’s Hospital. In Ghana everyone thinks Europe has streets lined with gold but it’s not like that. I don’t have the lifestyle I had in Ghana but I want to live where everything is fair and everyone has equal opportunities – that is a big reason why I am still here.
