Nora, Chair of The Filipino Association in the Isle of Man Philippines and Loudon, Manx Charity Director Scotland
Nora: I grew up on a small farm. We had vegetables, small animals and chickens – I got to choose which one went in the pot! After I left the Philippines I lived in Denmark a long time. I came here when Loudon was offered a job and he took me on a tour of the Island immediately I got here. I fell in love straight away – it was just like the Philippines with the mountains, waterfalls and flowers. It’s beautiful. I feel at home here. I love the people, they are so kind, warm-hearted and generous. Loudon: I had met Nora when I was living in Glasgow and she was visiting a relative. We lived in different countries for a long time but when I was offered a job here, we decided to get married and we were lucky to be married in Castle Rushen. I’d lived on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides for seven years so I was initiated into island life there, although it was easier here because they often spoke Gaelic in Lewis. There’s something special about Island people – no matter whether they live on British islands or the Philippines.
