My mum always called me her “little gypsy” – I was always the one who wanted to go on school trips and summer camps. I had always wanted to live near the sea and was fascinated by the idea of living on an island, especially as I come from a large industrial region of Germany. I go back to Germany every Christmas. It is the perfect time to meet all my old friends who also return home. Our Christmas Market is famous for having the largest Christmas tree in Europe and it is traditional in Germany to celebrate Christmas on 24th December when we have the main feast.
